Alan is a co-founder and Chairman of Mydex, the world’s first personal data store operator, founded in 2007. Mydex helps individuals collect, store, use and share their own data under their own control, independently of all organisations that collect data about them. Its ISO27001 accredited infrastructure is being used to help individuals in their daily lives in multiple ways. For example, helping: – individuals act as hubs for the sharing of data for all services helping people live independently as they grow older – cancer suffers collect and share the information they need so that they don’t have to keep on repeating themselves and can integrate available services around their needs needing care to collect and share relevant data with professional and informal carers – Government researchers reach and engage citizens they want to target via their anonymised profiles – individuals facing financial difficulties gather, share and use information about their financial circumstances to access and act on debt advice – individuals to gather and present the information they need to verify their identities – individuals gather and present the information they need to make accessing Government services and benefits quicker and easier – data trusts in citizen engagement and citizen-powered data sharing Alan’s talk is based on Mydex’s many years of experience of delivering front line services in the public and third sectors.
